What Makes You Human?

As humans, we've become fairly accustomed to being productive. A lot of us define our identities based on what we do for money. And most of us take pleasure and find meaning in doing our jobs well.

But in this dawning era of artificial intelligence, we need to reflect on our own human intelligence. So, let's ask ourselves, "What makes us human?"

After all, if artificial intelligence does our jobs, creates our art, generates our music, and writes our stories -- what is left for humans to do? Here are three ways we can bolster our humanity and build a stronger future:

1. Create art fearlessly. Machines might be able to replicate paint on canvas, but they can't feel the sweep of inspiration coursing through our veins. Art connects us. It expresses the human experience. It sparks conversation and bridges differences. We can even live on as we pass down our art from generation to generation. Let's keep creating our art and telling our stories.

2. Build and strengthen relationships. Technology excels at facilitating communication. However, it can't build heart-filled relationships the way humans do. We have innate warmth, shared memories, and trust going for us! Reach out to someone you care about. Spend time together. Build experiences and memories. Tell stories and laugh. Cry if you must. Nothing compares to a real hug or shared laughter in a world of artificial connections.

3. Cultivate community. Look around and see where you can be a part of something bigger than yourself. A community garden, a neighborhood art project, or even a simple block party can bring people together. These moments remind us of what we share rather than what divides us. A strong community stands resilient, even in the face of challenges technology alone can't solve.

The most sophisticated computer or the smartest AI means nothing without our humanity. Let's embrace each other, our creativity, and the countless connections that make us wonderfully human.
