Slither into the Year of the Snake!
It's the year of the snake! On January 29, we'll welcome the lunar new year with scales of celebration, coils of creativity, and a lot of hiss-terical fun. Let's use our Uncle Goose toys to build some ssssuper snakes and learn a thing or five about our flexible, fork-tongued friends.
1. Snakes Have No Legs, but They Know How to Get Around
Snakes don't need legs to make a move. These limbless wonders can slither, sidewind, and even climb trees. And while they're legless, they're not spineless (unlike that one coworker we all know). Why not use Uncle Goose blocks to build your own legless creation? You can make it long, short, or even with a twist!
2. Forget Noses: Snakes Smell with Their Tongues!
All snakes have forked tongues. They use their tongues to "taste" the air by picking up scent particles. The next time someone sticks their tongue out at you, remember—they might just be checking if pizza's in the room! When you create your own snake with Uncle Goose blocks, tie a ribbon for its forked tongue. What kind of knot can you tie?
3. That's Hot! Snakes Can "See" Heat
Many snakes, like pythons and boas, are equipped with heat-sensing pits that detect the body heat of their prey. The pit organs are located between the eyes and nostrils, and let the snakes detect infrared radiation. You might want to give your snake heat-seeking powers as you build it. Bonus points if you use blocks to build another little creature for your snake to "see".
4. Talk About a Glow-Up: Snakes Shed Their Skin
Snakes are the fashionistas of the animal kingdom. They shed their old skin and strut their shiny new scales like it's Fashion Week. Every season, they've got to wear the latest and greatest new skin. When you build your block snake, you might "shed" a layer of blocks to reveal a fresher, sleeker version.
5. Some Snakes Are Born with Two Heads
Occasionally, snakes are born with two heads. As you might imagine, two-headed snakes have to work together to get anything done. Challenge yourself to work with a partner to build a two-headed snake using your Uncle Goose blocks. You can use one head for conversation and the other for biting off more than you can chew.
Let's honor the Year of the Snake by combining creativity and learning. Build snakes with your Uncle Goose blocks—long, colorful, and maybe even with a funky twist. You'll create something ssssuper sssspecial while celebrating this fascinating creature!
